The sun was shining and so were the faces of the 20 participants doing Yoga in the Clem. Lila Lazarus and Steve Feldman lead us through a 45 minute practice focusing on creating positive energy for ourselves and for the City of Mount Clemens. A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated.
Our Second Annual East Side Yoga Retreat brought together 36 yogi's and yogini's to the beautiful Lake Huron Retreat Center. We spent the weekend practicing yoga, meditating walking the Lake Huron shoreline and relaxing. The only complaint we heard was that it wasn't long enough! Hmmm... perhaps a fall retreat needs to be planned.

About the ProgramAdopt-A-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) program designed to help keep the state's highway roadsides clean and attractive. Participants adopt both sides of a section of state highway roadside to clean up for at least a two-year period. A minimum two-mile stretch of roadway is typical. Groups will need to provide their own transportation to the adoption site. MDOT will provide bags for litter, safety vests and pickup of filled bags. We are currently looking at a section of M3, Gratiot Avenue. |
Spring Pickup Summer Pickup Fall Pickup |
What's required to participate? Your time and effort. It's that easy! Participants are asked to pick up litter three times a year from the highway roadsides in their designated area. The goal of the program is to clean the roadsides before mowing cycles and tourism periods (April through October). |
Planning and Safety Meeting Friday, March 30, 2012 At Bodhi Seed Yoga & Wellness Studio Time: 6:30 pm |
An important note about safety. All Adopt-A-Highway participants are required to conduct a safety meeting before each pickup. All participants are required to wear an MDOT-provided safety vest while working along the roadside. MDOT will provide additional safety information, including rules and a DVD. How does my group benefit? Besides the sense of pride your group will feel enhancing the appearance of your community, the name of your group will be identified on Adopt-A-Highway signs to be displayed near your roadside area. In addition, your group will receive a certificate of participation to display in your lobby or business. |
